Everything you need to know about draw length

Answers to the most common questions from our customers.

What is draw length?

Draw length is the distance from the grip of the bow to the anchor point on your face when you're at full draw. It's measured in inches and is unique to each archer based on their body proportions.

Can I adjust my draw length?

Most modern compound bows have adjustable draw length through module changes or cam adjustments. Recurve bows don't have a set draw length — you simply draw to your natural anchor. Our pro shop can adjust your compound bow in-store.

Is the calculator always accurate?

The wingspan method (wingspan ÷ 2.5) is accurate for the majority of archers. However, arm proportions vary and some people have longer or shorter draws relative to their wingspan. A physical fitting with a bow is always the final word.

Does draw length affect arrow spine?

Yes — your draw length directly influences the correct arrow spine. A longer draw length requires a stiffer spine. When you buy arrows from us, we factor in your draw length, bow poundage, and point weight to recommend the right shaft.

What if I'm between sizes?

If your calculation lands between two standard sizes (e.g. 27.5"), we generally recommend trying both at the shorter and longer setting and seeing which feels more natural at your anchor point. Our team will help you decide in-store.
